When one person turns to another and takes the risk of exposing themselves with ‘I love you,’ it’s an invitation to a very special kind of connection. It implies, ‘You’re unique to me. You’re irreplaceable. You are the one I need and you are the one I choose’. ~ Dr. Sue Johnson
On life’s journey, we are striving to create love filled relationships. So what does it feel like to be immersed in, deeply involved in, spell bound by, eating, sleeping and breathing love? The words warm, secure, happy and content come to mind. There is nothing in the world more powerful than love. Love enlivens, love unites and love heals.
1 Corinthians 13:4-8. 4 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. 5 It does not dishonour others, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. 6 Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. 7 It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. 8 Love never fails.
We long to feel love, be loved and immersed in love. How do we create a life over flowing with love, love for each other, life and ourselves? The secret to attracting love is to embody our essential truth. Loving ourselves each step of the way remembering that we are loved and we are lovable – Yes let that sink in your spirit and open your heart and fill it with love – we are loved, we are lovable.
Each of us was born confident in both of these messages – bathed in a mother’s love and swaddled in our own innocence. Would you make the same statement today as an infant if they had the words? And say “I am completely loved, I am completely lovable.
To be immersed in love, to attract love, we first have to love ourselves. It makes no difference if we look like a movie star or the green grocer. Age doesn’t matter nor does the size of ones waistline. As beloved creations of the earth, we are loved and completely lovable.
As we love ourselves unconditionally, we can then share the highest expression of love with everyone else in our lives regardless of how they look, how they act, whether they share our values, our ethnicity, and our political or spiritual beliefs. Knowing that we are all interconnected at the deepest level of our being makes it easier to accept others, not as we wish them to be but as they are – lovable and loving.
When we act from love thorough the eyes of Spirit, of God, life becomes easier and effortless. Love will heal, love will renew and make us feel safe. Love will inspire us to open up to our infinite potential.
Bask in the warmth of love without conditions.
